Autobody Repair? Macco or Not?

Autobody Repair? Macco or Not? Question by bman4lif3
My car needs to be sent in for some auto-body repair. It has a body kit which needs repair and some rusted areas which would be an easy fix, and would need a new but I am unsure of where to take it. I was thinking of taking it to Macco for the work, they have low prices but I have read some negative reviews about Macco. I dont know what to trust. I guess what I am asking is that. Is Macco a good place to take my car? If not any recommendations of well known companies or places. (I am in the GTA) Thanks.
also thoughts about CARSTAR? would they be a good choice?

  1. You get what you pay for. Maaco like any other chain type franchise makes their money by banging out one car after another putting quality 2nd and speed of repairs 1st. get em in and get em out. Now, some Maaco’s will do the quality repair for more money. I have a friend who works at a Maaco and he took my car in for my repairs on weekend work only and then painted my car on the side. I brought the car home, wet sanded and wheeled out the car myself and the car came out awesome. It was my classic 1972 Corvette! Fiberglass repairs and paint. It took a few months but we got it done. By the way i stripped the paint myself and disassembled the car my self too. I reassembled the car in my own garage at my house. So if your not afraid to get dirty, do some work yourself and let Maaco do some of the work you are not sure of doing. As far as the painting goes, if you do a lot of the after prep work of wet sanding and wheeling yourself, the results will be much better. The plus is that you will save a lot of money.

PS.. If you want to see a pic of my car, contact me and i can show you some before and after pics.

    good luck………

  2. I had my car panted at Maaco well over a year and it still looks great. We get a lot of compliments on it. This is my 2nd car with Maaco paint with the same results. Sure, you could spent a lot more and maybe get to perfection, but unless this is a classic show car not to be driven (or you are a huge perfectionist) a car only goes down in value and usually is not kept for long. Maaco is great for most cars and budgets.
