I sent my car in to get a coolant leak fixed. I knew it wasn’t the radiator as it had just been replaced. They put 2.5 hours labour into and replaced my thermostat and the top hose. The parts were cheap but the town I am in has expensive labour so it worked out at $400. I have driven the car less then 4km since the repair and the leak is still there and hasn’t changed at all. It still leaks in exactly the same meaning what they fixed wasn’t the issue. Can they charge me when I take it back to them?

Yes they can charge you, you did not pay for that repair. Apparently they are not good shop to do business with. Since they cannot find a leak.
You are well within your rights to ask for your money back if they made a repair that did not fix the problem.
Yes they can you might bring it back and explain you are still loosing coolant and they might help.If they noted on the RO that other hoses or parts need to be replaced you will pay again
Yes, they did change the thermostat and top radiator hose right? Only way you can legally get your money back is if you can prove they didn’t do the work they said they did.
Just because you recently replaced the radiator doesn’t mean it not the source of the leak. In your place I wouldn’t take it back to them. If they really knew their stuff the mechanic would’ve pressure checked the system right and proper and found the leak.
Call them for sure. Give them a chance to make it right. If you want to know if you will get charged ask them. Maybe what they fixed is still leaking, if so it should be free. If there is a different problem them maybe they will give you a reduction in the cost for not finding it the first time.
A reputable shop would work with you on the repairs. If on the other hand, if they are not honest then it will to be hard to prove that they did not fix one problem and now you have a separate issue. I would go talk to them and explain your side and see what happens. If it were my shop and we charged you for a repair that did not fix your problem I would work with you to make it right. Good Luck!!!!
GO 24!!!!
no because you told them what the problem was the first time an they understood you so i think it was the machanic fault so the muchanic who fix on you’r car should replace it for free or pay to get it fix
I agree with Airmech, is the only one that give you the most logic answer. What is key here on resolving your problem is the honesty of the repair shop. By the way, I think that 400 dlls total bill for only 2.5 hrs of labor and the parts you stated is way too high!
