I was riding shot gun in a car without a seat belt after a long night at the bars. My friend collided with a tree with his parents car and we both ended up in hospital. I received a fracture near my cheek bone and a broken tooth while he got a dislocated shoulder.
I lost my jacket, cell phone, and a pair of jeans were ripped and ruined. I also had my laptop in the trunk and surprisingly it still worked after but there is a huge crack and dent in the casing.
Can I claim these things under his insurance? He said he wasn’t registered under parents insurance, but his dad said his insurance company would cover my costs. Would that include this?
And how do I go about contacting the insurance company, do I just get their number and call them up?
Do I need receipts of the repairs done on my laptop, as well as the cost of a new cell phone and jeans?
The accident was a week ago, and the guy is my friend. I was considering whether or not I should seek legal advice?
Im in Canada

His friend was a pilot who had received permission to drive the car from their parents, as history shows that is covered. medical expenses will be covered for personal injury or medical paiements.En regarding lost items that were damaged or destroyed. Yes, these things can be claimed by insurance. You must submit estimates for the repair or replacement of the laptop and a cell phone and receive the same type of jeans. The jeans will be a refund. You can simply call the insurance company directly, but if this man was his friend and parents say they will be compensated, then give them a chance. After a reasonable attempt to satisfaction, then go directly to the company. Also keep in mind the time off work or other rehabilitation. These things are also compensated.
You know, you get two different answers. The insurance company should contact you and if you have been reported as passager.Certains your property can be covered – like the laptop. However, “losing” a jacket and a cell phone most likely would not. Liability insurance for damage to property, which does not cover theft or disappearance mystĂ©rieuse.Vous probably have to show the damaged parts. Again, I do not think the phone cover and jacket, who knows if you left somewhere in a bar, or in hospital? They are not damaged, are gone. diffĂ©rence.En high end, if the insurance company refuses to pay (perhaps because it was excluded as a driver), you will need to continue to recover.
I do not know about Canada. In most U.S. states, if your friend is liable (negligent) in the accident, the supplement company would be obliged to pay the liability of damage to his passagers.Vous must provide documentation that still have to these items. Otherwise, they could deny your request or give you the amount you think you should get. They will have to pay the cost of your laptop, not necessarily new. This applies to any damages on the list. Basically, if you have a LAPTAP four years, it would have paid for a laptop for four years, not news.
