i had a really large sound coming from front end of my car, sounded like something was going to fall off everytime you drove over a little bump or something. i brought the car into the dealership. later that afternoon i called to find out progress of my repair. i was told that the strut mounts needed lubing, and that this wasn’t covered under warranty at a cost of $115.
a few hours later i went back to the dealership to pick up my car. instead i was given a courtesy car for the weekend, and told i had other damage. this damage was arm bushings loose, and left front coil spring broken.
can someone please tell me, does one relate to the other? or if they had diagnosed problem correctly, would there have been a need to lube strut mounts when this apparently wasn’t the problem? help. and thanks.

Well I would need to know what kind of car you have but I can tell you that strut mounts do not get fixed by lubrication only by replacement. The control arm bushings would be a squeeking noise or rubbing noise and could be related I think you need a new mechanic to be honest. If you drive a toyota camry its most likley the front mounts common problem in the 1995 to 1998 modles you may also need new struts as well.
Hard parts like springs and lower control arms dammage is covered by warranty maintence like lubrication is not covered. No more flying over curbs OK mechanics like to know what we are working on year make model and miles please with your question.
it’s all part of the front end , steering in general and if it’s not fixed you can cause an accident , it is necessary and must be fixed at any cost and it will cost more than the quote you 1′st received
once the dealer said not under warranty take it right away to a reputable garage for a 2nd opinion.it will cost alot less as you don’t have to have the work done any where you dont want. the dealer is required to do work under warranty. but its your choice for all other work
Ford has broken springs occurring in some of their Taurus models, and has a safety recall to replace or protect the front springs. Your car should be covered under warranty or a recall. See http://www.mycarstats.com

IF IT IS UNDER WARRANTY, MOST VEHICLE HAVE A MINIMUM OF 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY LESS WEAR ITEMS.
THE STRUT MOUNT CAN BE LUBE BUT THAT IS JUST A QUICK FIX AND THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.
THE ARM BUSHING AND BROKEN SPRING ARE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT AS USUAL THE DEALER IS STROKING YOU ON LUBING THE STRUT MOUNT BECAUSE THEY WILL TAKE IT APART WHILE THEY ARE REPLACING THE BROKEN SPRING.
IN CLOSING THIS IS THE WAY THAT THE DEALERS MAKE THEIR MONEY AND IF I WERE YOU I WOULD GO AND SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND REPLACING AS WELL AS SPEAKING TO THE SERVICE MENAGE AND IF POSSIBLE THE ZONE MANAGER, LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED A REFUND.
I can tell you right now the sound was the broken spring, there probably was no serious need for the lube job and that;s ridiculous at $110. The bushings need to be addressed as well, but I believe you were taken on the strut mount lube job. A lack of lubrication would not have made such noise, and was unnecessary.
