I had my car fixed about a month ago, the dash lights were staying on and the dealership said that it was caused by corroded wires in the panel…anyways got that fixed, a month later the same problem was happening again….took it in this time they said it was the ignition, on top of that my car had been leaking trans fluid, something was wrong with the rad. (a part in the hose or something) got those both fixed….then the day after I picked it up, the airbag light stayed on while I was driving….took it in AGAIN and they said there is something wrong with the airbag system and has to be fixed….they are covering all but about 25% of the cost…..is this just a coincidence or does it seems a bit funny how as soon as I get it back from the dealership something else goes wrong………
By the way my car is ONLY a 2004!!
Also…I am only covered by power train warranty now….the reason I keep going back to the same place is because I expect them to reduce if not wipe out the cost for things…that I feel should have been addressed earlier…..however once my airbag system is fixed I will never take my car to them again, this is getting ridiculous…thanks everyone

Go back to the dealership and ask if you could see the TSB’s for your car and a list of recalls.
thats the way it happens most of the time
If you are having corroded wires inside the panel, the electrical connections are all probably going bad and this is why you are having so many problems. How old is the car? If the repairs are going to cost more than half the blue book value, it’s time to consider replacing it.
Take it to a reputable independent and see what they think after doing the computer test…do you have a mother board problem?
It sounds like your car has gotten wet and now has the electrical plugs corroding.
Most insurance companies write these off if they have gotten wet or flooded.
There may be some info on car-fax on these cars.
I would trade it in quickly if this is the case.
the dealer will find stuff EVERY TIME you take it there…actually, many mechanics will do this too, but dealers are the WORST place to go unless you are using your warranty, because they are the most expensive and will soak you every time you go. Now, unless your car is under warranty TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Hey Pink,
This is one of those questions that I dont like too read.
I will give you some direction here.
First of all: it would be very rare to see corrosion in the instrument panel wiring on a 04 model vehicle, for that matter a 84 veh. I live and work in the salt belt area and I dont see it!
Second: the dash problems are probably all related to the same cause, poor connection at printed circuit connection etc., and for them to keep charging you is wrong.
You do not give make and model of veh. so it is difficult to be more descript.
Third: did you buy this veh new or used. It sounds possible that this veh was involved in a collision.
anayways I feel that you are not being told the truth here. If the tech repaired corroded wires then make them show you the repair that they did.
sorry to hear your position and I hope all resolves well.
Feel free to e-mail for further help here
On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. Most systems can only be diagnosed using a scanner designed for the airbag system, however some use flash codes to indicate the problem. The scanners at Auto Zone or the ones that sell for @ $50 will not access the airbag system, only the engine systems (check engine light).
This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting some systems without a scanner. Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate that (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/
Check out these websites also for more info on airbag systems and the light.
