Does a car air con use a fluid? What happens if it leaks out?

   The air conditioner is supposed to be completely sealed – the fluid level should not drop. In practice, a little may leak out, but it should stay in there for years.

   There’s a little oil in the air conditioner, but most of the fluid in there is only liquid at very low temperatures or high pressures. If any of the refrigerant itself escapes, it will evaporate with almost no trace. If you actually have visible amounts of fluid leaking out, you have a very badly damaged seal somewhere.

   I’m afraid this will be a rather expensive repair.

   Edited to add – forgot about the water, which technically isn’t a leak. Thought you had something coming out of a hose fitting or the compressor.

   STUPID QUESTION but thanks for the 2 points and it runs by ANTIFREEZE and antifreeze leaks when the air is on that is average

   Well my first question is: What color was the fluid? If it was anything other than clear then you have a potentally serious problem. If it was clear, that is just water, which is normal. If it was green, theat indicates coolant, a reddish-brown would be automatic transmission fluid, and a black oily fluid would obviouslly be oil. As far as the rough idle, has it been tuned up lately? Rough idle can be caused by alot of things. Anything from bad plugs and wires to mayby something came loose to bad sensors. Tha is about all I can think of without more info.
