My father was rear ended while at a complete stop with signal on making a left. The man who hit him was driving on a suspended licence and produced a ins card that wasn’t valid in someone Else’s name stating that he didn’t own the vehicle. Turns out later that he bought the vehicle from someone and the car had a ins card in the glove box but was no longer insured even though the dates were in still in effect but he never got a ticket for not having insurance just received one for the suspended licence and 2 for moving violations 100% at fault. Is there anyway. to tell if he will get punished for not having ins? My father didn’t have collision so he fell back on uninsured motorist coverage off of his own policy.
will dads rates go up ? Will dads ins legally go after the guy who hit him that didn’t have insurance, to pay for the damages for my dads car that was totaled?

I do believe it is my business if this man didnt get punished for not having insurance. Its the law you must have insurance on your vehicle when you drive it on the road.
We just want to be sure that the man got/gets punished by the Judge for giving false insurance information to the police officer, since he didnt get a ticket for it on the day the accident happened. We have a letter of denial from the ins company that the man driving gave to the officer on the police report.
