Its my white 1990 honda civic, all over the body its chipping paint, not badly but its a bad paint job nonetheless. On the bottom sides theres chip guard, and its chipping the white paint and its exposing the black “gummy” chip guard. How do i repair this? do i have to sand the chip guard off? I’d like to just keep it cause it’ll protect my car, but how do i get the old white paint off the rock guard without taking the rock guard off.

your best bet is to leave it as is. rock gard is plastic it wont rust so go to a hobby store and get white paint (touch up paint) or use your GF’s nail polish and go over the chips. if its BAD, take about 25 on a sander and shred the paint on of it and spray it with plastic primer and plastic paint of primer.
