The car will sometimes not start. It does not make a noise. It has nothing to do with the battery or alt. (both have been looked at). The car will start if I put it in neutral. Where is the inhibitor switch on this type of car and how can it be repaired?

I assume this is an automatic? Then that switch should be in the area of the shifter, or in the transmission.
Its by the shifter in the console. You can take off the coverand its located next to it You can adjust it by loosening up the bolts that hold it in place and with the key in the start pos. (you trying to start the car) move it forward and back till you get an ignition start, tighten down the bolts that hold it in place
what you are looking for is the black switch on front of the transmission under the shifter cable. have some one move the cable and see if there is excessive slack plastic bushing worn out some time just the switch needs slight adjustment loosen switch bolts align adjustment hole on the switch 1/8 drill bit put in neutral tighten bolts. those bolts are small and have battery acid dripped down most times so carefully not to tight.
