This book is one of the most impressive productions I’ve seen in a long time. The care and precision with the photos taken is simply amazing. The writing is very logical and easy to digest, even for a guy like me who do not have a Porsche and never rebuilt an engine before. Summaries of many (for example, costs of parts, machining costs, if replacement of parts photos, etc) and group “part has been very informative. I especially appreciated that Dempsey joined the actual prices of the different parts and machine shop work, instead of weakening and that “the prices vary. Of course, vary – but now at least I have a rough idea. I found a lot of information of general application, ie, most tips and techniques helped me do the work of the main drivers in a Toyota recently. The book makes a particularly good explanation of common problems, their causes, as well as with various compensation arrangements. The extremes to which the author maintain a pristine work environment are staggering. My only complaint is that it is a little sad to learn that a) the cost of rebuilding the engine is typically $ 911 8K, and worse (), which is apparently a $ 6k if you do the work yourself. It would be nice if the author wrote the book like a BMW 3 Series. There is probably a wider audience of guys who can justify the reconstruction of a “practice” as a road car compared with 911 in March.

I always had the desire to buy and rebuild a 911. However, due to the mystique of being a Porsche sports car, I think the reality of the scene of my regular maintenance, not too mention the rebuilding of 1911 was beyond my capabilities. After reading Mr. Dempsey 101 projects for Porsche 911 that he was sure the scene (and now do) perform any maintenance on my car. I bought Mr. Dempsey How to rebuild and modify the engine of his Porsche 911 1965-1989 book of hope that would give me the same knowledge to the next step at work in my car. Although I have not rebuilt my engine, Dempsey has excellent job of describing the dismantling and rebuilding process that has help me understand how the engine 911. In addition, Mr. Dempsey website, www. pelicanparts. com, offers a wealth of information to complete his two books. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the engine 911 with the desire to achieve more of their own work.

Wayne has released another good how-to book filled with a lot of very specific details and step by step procedures. This book fills in the most graphic details of other books on the subject, and adds a series of updates should be done. The drawback of this book gives an all or nothing, without adequate compensation to rebuild low-cost low-value car, or a partial reconstruction of a racing engine. The list of parts to be replaced is excessive and disproportionate to the majority of engine rebuilding books, manuals and even the shop floor. Its recommendation on the machine shop is to go to the most expensive in the country. Cleaning procedures are difficult, and time, and it is unrealistic to store interested in money or a person indefinitely. There is also a serial number of recommendations are still being debated in the community 911. I rebuilt a number of 911 engines, which is a must have book if you do it yourself, but have some recommendations with a grain of salt.

Wayne Dempsey may be the Harry Pellow (RIP) around 911, based on his warm and encouraging style of writing and in-depth technical knowledge. Since its origin “101 Projects book, the author has somewhat improved as a writer. The level of detail here is complete without being overwhelming, and the style is very friendly. Rare in technical manuals, you can read this book in a version of your favorite chair as a novel, or the weight of the open on the desktop that has followed every instructions and a detailed example. The photography is excellent, and there is plenty of it. Legends abound with good closeups. Unlike other popular 911 technical books, photography and illustrates very effectively supports the text well. This book is not just for engine manufacturers. If you are the type of 911 homeowners who pay more attention to the tachometer on the stereo, and understands that the dry sump lubrication is not when you run out of hair gel will love Paper!

I bought this book because I heard that Wayne Dempsey has worked on it after finishing “101 Projects for your Porsche 911.” This book was very good and informative, I was looking for a little more. Wayne takes the reader-friendly style he has shown in this book 101 with new engine. The book contains six chapters that include, when the reconstruction, dismantling, engine room, improvements in performance, installation and implementation. There’s even a handy set of appendices at the end of the book containing all the specifications and part numbers you need for all 1965-1989 engines. I thought it was worth the price of the book alone, as many times I tried to find this information elsewhere, and could not. The book is full of color Fantasticly clear images. Each step of the assembly process is documented clearly with colored arrows and clear patterns. There is even an introduction to each section assembly showing you what parts, tools and materials you need, so you will not forget. My favorite part is chapter four, where almost all the performance options and / or update, you can put in your 911 engine is explained in detail. Commands that was real confusing for me, this is clearly explained before (as in 101 projects). It is hard to find anything wrong with this book because it really delivers on its promise. I just wish I had more!
