My licence plate bolt and frame bumped and dented a bumper – I thought I had the break on – but let it up while looking away while at a stoplight.
Owner faxed me two estimates. One was from a Body Shop and one was from the dealer….both within $100.00. Problem though – the car in the dealer estimates was not listed as the one I hit (different VIN #) and the car in the Auto Body dealer was listed as a different year – with no VIN #…..?????
I’ve asked him to clear this up by getting a 2nd estimate with the proper car listed…..
I also noticed that he’s asking me to repair the rear lower spoiler…..I did not touch that!
My car has no damage (It’s brand new, so I would know) – I was going approx. 5 km/hr. or less as I had previously stopped.
Any thoughts on my rights….the other car owners responsibilities?
I don’t want to put it through insurance and use up my 1 – free at-fault claim (haven’t had an accident in 30 years).
The cost is only around $500.00
Thanks.
J.
I had a very small at-fault accident and told the owner I would pay for any repairs rather than submit to ins.
