The first Haynes manual I bought for my 944, back in 1986. He gave me the slightest idea of what makes this vehicle unique and special tools allows me to work in the same car. After suffering a failure of the timing belt (too often in this series), I discovered that there was not enough information for me to solve this problem myself. I bought the factory service manual ($ 250 at the time) and was able to solve my problems, and prevent many other problems. There is no substitute for the factory service manual, and is now available on CD-ROM. If you have a turbo 944 or 944 or 944s2, this book is absolutely worthless to you, because it has no wiring diagrams or actual information is covered in the manual of the plant.

If you do not have the exact model and year (1983 944) Haynes used as a sample of this book (and even then, according to at least one reviewer) the book is mostly useless. That goes double if you have a turbo version of the 944, because there is no single reference, for instance, or illustration of specific anyting turbo (and there are many) that I could find, even if Haynes says it is covered by this issue. Robert Bentley, please, please, bless the poor his 944 with one of his excellent reference. . . meantime, save your money.

I just bought a 1983 944 and I was hoping to get some information on replacing the timing belt of this book, but it is too general. In my quest for a correct only manual I could find an alternative: The ex-factory repair manual negotiation “of $ 225. 00 My advice: before buying this book, spend the money on phone calls to find a factory manual used!

This manual explains in detail the good things that you yourself can decide. When it comes to information on the details that need help with real, on several occasions, they tell you to take the car to the dealer or retailer. I think I lost my money on this book. (I know – I had a Haynes manual for a Ford before)
