a thanks for the info
If half is not blowing, then you have a control problem inside the dash. On those things, it’s often the main control unit that goes bad, BUT they are VERY complex computer driven systems, nothing you can diagnose yourself. You can guess with parts, but without a Tech 11 scanner, you’ll just be guessing. Scotty Kilmer
hey half of my ac does not work. it dosnt blow air at all do u know what that is. its on a 2001 gmc safari
Hi Scotty can you tell me what happens if i accidently put a hole in that thing in front of the radiator (that looks like a radiator I heard a hissing sound and was told it was the gas leaking out )do I need to get a new one or can it be patched up and regassed?
I have a 1994 ford festiva hatchback
The compressor runs off a fan belt on the front of the engine. It has two large hoses bolted onto it’s top, where the refrigerant flows in and out. ANY auto parts store guy can show you it in one second. Scotty Kilmer
i have no knowlege with cars and i have a daewoo lanos i dont know where the compressor is
Computers are hard to diagnose, so you can just bypass them and wire the compressor direct as I show in this video. If it works then, you could make this a permanent fix instead of checking all the AC electronics out. Scotty Kilmer
how do i no if my AC Computer isnt working? because my AC has never worked from day on the mechanic never found a leak never found anything wrong
Hey, I am a REAL mechanic, going to work as usual tommorow to battle with the machines. I doubt Mr. Sham-Wow does more than just talk with a headset on. I just try to be entertaining when I make videos, so people don’t get bored. Scotty Kilmer
I think this guy is the gonna be the new Sham-Wow spokesperson. LOL!!!!
OK, those things have really messed up AC computer controls, and they often break down. If you do what I show in the video, it should fix your problem. I have done this to a BUNCH of X terras in the past few years. Scotty Kilmer
Hey Scotty! I have a 2002 Nissan X terra and the a/c works fine every morning when i go to work but in the afternoon, after 8 hours, it works every other day and it definetly won’t work if I drive in between. What do you think it is?
If you rewire it, you would use the switch to control the running temperature of the compressor, but you could use the digital gauge inside IF it still works OK (that gauge will also move blend doors. ) Those VWs have impossibly complex Ac and heating systems, so be sure that the AC fans also run when the
AC is on since you mention the AC works fine on the highway–where there is more wind than at idle. You could also have a fan problem causing this. Scotty Kilmer
Scotty, I have 2006 VW Jetta that’s having an issue with AC. When the vehicle is coasting on freeway, the ac works fine. When it idles. It gets hot. I’m in AZ so I like to find a solution b4 it gets hot in the coming months. if I bypass the wire to clutch and use a toggle switch. Do I control the temp using the switch in your video to make it cooler? or still use the digital gauge inside the car that controls the temperature?? Its $600 just for the clutch. so I like to save if I can. thx
Just make sure to push it in the “hall”
Yes, don’t let porches sit unrun for long periods of time. Things gunk up inside. Try removing the air ductwork going into the engine intake. Then spray the heck out of the throttle plate with cleaner (like carb cleaner spray) and hope it was just clogged up. Also, put some injector cleaner into the gas and then drive it really fast on the highway to help clean the inside of the injectors out. Scotty Kilmer
Hi Scotty, my friend has a porsche 911 (996) and he hadnt driven it for a long time until last week. when we took it out the rev counter which normally idles at 500-750rpm went up to 1500rmp, i aint no expert with cars but thats far higher than usual. you got any advice mate?
Just do what I do in this video and bypass all that electrical nonsense. Scotty Kilmer
That’s why I say to be careful drilling that hole. You have to replace the evaporator now, but realize many places sell chinese made ones that don’t cost much at all. That’s what I normally use these days when I change em out. Scotty Kilmer
Oops, my drill went through my evaporator, now what??????
Hi scotty, i just had a free A/C check on my 1997 Toyota Sprinter (carib, in New Zealand). I was told there was an electrical fault. It would come on but then would switch off far too early. The metal hose that enters towards the evaporator grill was cold.
ALL ac systems leak somewhat in cars because of rubber seals. Some need refrigerant added once every couple of years, and some need it only once every ten years. Scotty Kilmer
thanks scotty! hmm yehs i hope it is. I jst worried about having some kind of leak in the system, or a faulty device somewhere since my car is old.
It could be that simple. First, put a set of AC gauges on the system and see if the pressure is too low. If so, odds are you just need a refill. Hondas all leak some refrigerant over time. Scotty Kilmer
i have a year 89 civic. My a/c doesnt work, but the fan works fine. Is it as simple as just needing to re-gass ?
Hi,
My 2004 Chevy Venture A/C is dead for more than a year now. A mechanic showed me by pushing something on the AC line around the car’s cooling fan that there is no freon in the system at all.
How can I start checking where is the problem and see which components are still in tact.
Thank you for your effort.
Lucky, Etobicoke
hi,
i have a 2004 mazda 3 sedan and at the moment the AC only blows warm room temperature air and does not get cold when ever i turn it on. it was working in the winter but not sure what happen. what do you think the problem is and how can i ifix it?
